Because it has a lot of stretch in it, size down one size because it will eventually stretch out after wearing and washing for a better fit.

I was a little unsure of these cropped jeans after placing my order but no regrets. I feel they are a little darker in reality than the picture which is great because that was my concern. The detailing on these make them a little dressy which I like. Absolutely no complaints; seem to be high quality and are very comfortable. A+
Only 5 feet tall so jeans are not cropped for me, but I do love them. The embroidery is just beautiful. Excellent quality, wash well with no shrinkage. Did wash inside out to protect the embroider. Next time will buy a size 8 because run little large. My hopes would be having petite length in your future!
